Residency Classification for Tuition Purposes

The classification of currently enrolled students and former UGA undergraduates re-admitted as a former UGA undergraduate is the responsibility of the Office of the Registrar. The University System of Georgia Board of Regents Policy Manual contains the criteria for classification as in-state for tuition purposes. If you have been classified as a nonresident for tuition purposes and you think further information could change that classification, you should submit the University of Georgia Petition for Classification as In-State for Tuition Purposes (PDF) and all supporting documentation.

Be sure to read the Board of Regents policy at: http://www.usg.edu/policymanual/section4/policy/4.3_student_residency/

After you have completed the petition and attached all supporting documentation, you should mail or bring them to:

Office of the Registrar

Deadlines for submission are:

  • Fall Semester: August 1
  • Spring Semester: December 1
  • Summer Semester: May 1
