Institutional Competencies (ICs) help students articulate the skills they learn through their UGA courses and activities. Courses and activities approved for Institutional Competencies will be included in the Comprehensive Learner Record (CLR), which is designed to help students deepen their understanding of their educational experiences and motivate them to acquire these life-long skills while working toward their degree.

The CLR is designed to highlight students’ validated competencies and achievements that they have acquired through their UGA coursework and activities. Courses and activities that are approved for Institutional Competencies will be displayed in the CLR. For the CLR to be as robust as possible for our students, we encourage as many courses and activities as possible to be submitted through these new processes.

Faculty and staff can now submit new or existing courses to meet the Institutional Competencies using the updated CAPA system. The system provides faculty with the ability to align their course learning outcomes with the Institutional Competency learning outcomes.
Below are step-by-step written instructions and video tutorials on submitting courses to meet Institutional Competencies in CAPA.
